Surge is Bringing His Friends

AMERICUS - This Saturday (Apr. 7) the Georgia Southwestern Athletics Department is holding its first "Mascot Day" on campus.

Surge, the Hurricanes mascot presented by Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, and his friends will be visiting the GSW baseball and softball games that afternoon.

The mascots will throw out a first pitch at Hurricane Stadium at 1 p.m. as the baseball team prepares to face Peach Belt Conference West Division-leading Georgia College. After visiting with fans and taking part in a few between-inning competitions, the mascots will head over to Lady 'Canes Field and kick off the softball doubleheader against PBC foe Columbus State at 2 p.m.

In addition, the GSW Student Government Association will be offering free face painting for fans of all ages.

Confirmed attendees to "Mascot Day" include the 2Duke's Bar-B-Que pig, the Q-Cup from Quiznos and the panther from Americus Sumter High School.
