Georgia Southwestern State University has named Nick Brown its assistant sports information director for the 2012-13 academic year. Brown comes to southwest Georgia after spending the previous two years as an athletic department student assistant at Purdue University. 

During his time at Purdue, Brown served as an assistant in the Athletic Communications and Promotions offices. His duties included assisting with the media relations efforts for all of Purdue's 18-varsity sports and the marketing and promotions initiatives for the football, women’s basketball, wrestling, and the men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs.

While at GSW, he will be the primary contact for the men's soccer, softball, and women's basketball teams. His other responsibilities include assisting with the sports information needs of all other teams in addition to helping with the day-to-day marketing needs of the Sports Information Office.

A Lafayette, Indiana, native, Brown graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in public relations and rhetorical advocacy from the Brian Lamb School of Communication.
