Jay Johnson grew up in Rochelle, GA, as the son of Ray and Cynthia Johnson; the grandson of Than and Rachel Adams. He graduated from Wilcox County High School in 2001. He then attended Valdosta State University and graduated in 2005 with a B.S. in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training. From there, he completed his M.Ed. at Georgia College and State University in 2007. Jay has one brother (Kent) who is married (Kaycee), and is the proud uncle of Kenlee and Ethan. Jay enjoys the opportunity to work with student-athletes in the collegiate setting and is grateful to the GSW community for their support and appreciation. In his spare time Jay enjoys learning God's truth, playing sports, watching movies, and traveling.
