Al Bonagura, Baseball (1975-1977)After transferring from Brunswick Junior College in Brunswick Ga. in 1975 - where Al had established the most wins by a pitcher in a season at that time - he started under the long-standing coach, fine man and GSW Hall of Famer, Coach Godfrey Knight. During Als two seasons, GSW reached new levels in postseason play, advancing to the district playoffs in 1975-76 and regional playoffs in Pine Bluff, AR in 1976-77. Al led the team in wins in both years. His highlight game was in his last year when GSW defeated the No. 2-ranked team in the country, Florida State University, 7 4; and Al picked up the complete-game win. He currently lives in his hometown of New Paltz, NY with his wife Susan and two children and is currently in his 33rd year at IBM as a Project Manager in the Main Frame computing business.Are you a former GSW student-athlete?![]() |
