Holloway scores 27; Lady Canes lose thriller by two

The Saint Leo women’s basketball team defeated Georgia Southwestern, 77-75, on the opening night of the Sleep Inn Classic, Friday evening from the Marion Bowman Activities Center.

'Canes struggle against Florida Memorial

The Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team trailed by 15 points at the half and was unable to recover, as Florida Memorial defeated the Hurricanes, 81-60, Friday evening at the Valdosta State P.E. Complex.

Lady Hurricanes cruise in opener

Georgia Southwestern had runs of 9-1 and 14-2 to start each half as the Lady Hurricanes dominated Albany State in a 70-59 win to open the new season on Monday evening in the Storm Dome.

Whitney Dean, Women's Basketball (2006-2008)

Whitney played two seasons in the post for the Lady Hurricanes basketball team. She played in 47 games over her career and pulled down 57 rebounds. Whitney’s best game for GSW came during her senior year at North Georgia when she scored eight points and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. She also led the team in rebounds and assists against Columbus State earlier that season. Whitney currently teaches 8th grade honors science and math at Perry Middle School in Perry, GA and will be coaching the 7th grade girls basketball team this year along with helping the varsity girls basketball team at Perry High School.
