Korczyk and Mullis Named to Peach Belt All-Sportsmanship Team
GSW sophomore cross country runner Stevi Korczyk and senior baseball player Jordan Mullis have been named to the 2007-2008 Peach Belt Conference All-Sportsmanship Team, announced by league officials on Thursday.

52 Hurricane Student-Athletes Named to Peach Belt Conference Honor Roll
52 Georgia Southwestern student-athletes representing the university's 10 varsity sports earned a spot on the Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll for the 2007-2008 academic year. Three achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

DAHLONEGA, Ga. North Georgia College & State University used a complete game shutout by James Wiley to take down Georgia Southwestern University 4-0 Sunday afternoon and sweep a three-game series to end the 'Canes conference road portion of the regular season.

The Hurricanes finished the week 2-2 (15-27 overall, 6-15 PBC). GSW defeated Brewton-Parker College 3-0 on Wednesday and took one of three at home over the weekend against Francis Marion (losing 13-1, winning 11-4 and losing the rubber game 19-10).

Fans Treated to Plenty of Offense
The Georgia Southwestern and Francis Marion University baseball teams combined for 44 runs on 56 hits as they split a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Hurricane Field. GSW took game one 11-4. Francis Marion won the rubber game of the weekend series 19-10.

The Georgia Southwestern baseball team defeated Thomas University 11-1 on Wednesday afternoon at Hurricane Field.
The Canes scored a run in the first that was set up by a one-out Daniel Lynn triple. The visiting Night Hawks answered with their lone run in the top of the second. From there it was all GSW.

The Hurricanes finished the week 2-3 (11-23 overall, 4-11 PBC). The Canes split a series at Flagler College losing game one 5-4 and taking the nightcap 9-1. GSW dropped two of three at Augusta State (losing 7-6 and 13-2 before taking game three 10-7).

Canes Split With Flagler College
GSW and Flagler College split a non-conference doubleheader in St. Augustine, Fla. on Wednesday. A one-out bases loaded single in the home half of the ninth gave the Saints a 5-4 victory in game one. In game two, sophomore DJ Decker belted a grand slam in the top of the first to lead the Hurricanes to a 9-1 victory.

Armstrong Atlantic Takes Two From GSW
Georgia Southwestern lost both games of a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader against Armstrong Atlantic State University on Saturday afternoon in Americus. In game one, late inning runs gave the visiting Pirates an 8-4 win. In game two, it was an early attack that led to Armstrong Atlantics 12-6 victory.

The Georgia Southwestern baseball team was happy to be back in the friendly confines of Hurricane Field on Monday. The Canes bats came to life and the pitching was outstanding in a doubleheader sweep of visiting Philadelphia University. GSW took game one 10-0 in seven innings and game two 7-1.

Hurricanes Fall in 13 Innings to Auburn-Montgomery
As the temperature slowly cooled off at Hurricane Field on Monday evening, so too did the Georgia Southwestern State University bats. Despite a strong effort from starting pitcher RM Cozza, the GSW baseball team was unable to put a run on the board after the eighth inning and eventually fell to Auburn University-Montgomery 4-3 in 13 innings. Davis Lamberts two out single and RBI in the 13th won the game for the visiting Senators (17-8).

Canes Take One of Three From GCSU
The GSW baseball team (3-3 Peach Belt Conference) won one of three games against Georgia College & State University over the weekend in Milledgeville. Saturday evening the host Bobcats took game one, 10-5. The Hurricanes rebounded to win game two on Sunday, 14-5. Georgia College won the finale 15-4.
