Weekly Report
The Hurricanes finished the week 2-2 (15-27 overall, 6-15 PBC).
GSW defeated Brewton-Parker College 3-0 on Wednesday and took one
of three at home over the weekend against Francis Marion (losing
13-1, winning 11-4 and losing the rubber game 19-10).
The ‘Canes won the Brewton-Parker game while managing only
two hits, however GSW drew a team high eight walks. There was
plenty of offensive production in the GSW/FMU series. Over the
course of the weekend, the teams combined to produce 58 runs and 80
hits. The 29 combined runs in the finale is a PBC season high.
Noble Coley (pictured above) led the ‘Canes offensively,
finishing the week 4-for-8 with three walks, a double, a triple and
two RBI. Coley had a .583 on-base percentage and .875 slugging
percentage in three games. Byron Haynes was another ‘Cane
swinging a hot bat this week, going 4-for-9 (.444) against Francis
Marion, scoring two runs and knocking in six. Haynes hit a
three-run home run in the win over FMU.
On the mound, Colin Duffie (4-3) struck out three in seven
scoreless innings against Brewton-Parker. Duffie and Bud Fuller
combined to shutout the Barons. RM Cozza (4-3) earned a
complete-game win against FMU. Cozza struck out nine batters - an
individual performance season high for the ‘Canes.
GSW hosts Columbus State on Tuesday before heading to Montgomery on
Wednesday to face AUM and Dahlonega this weekend for a PBC series
against North Georgia.
