'Canes fall at Thomas University, 15-8

Thomas University scored five runs in third inning to a take the lead from GSW, 7-4, and cruised to a 15-8 win in Thomasville on Wednesday afternoon.

The Hurricanes wasted no time getting on the board, scoring two runs in the first inning. Thomas answered with a pair of runs of their own in the bottom of the frame to tie the score at 2-2.

GSW pushed a run across in the second and another in the third, taking a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the third; that's when TU opened the game up with their five-run frame. The Hurricanes would trail the rest of the way.

Jody Sellars (1-2) took the loss for Southwestern.

GSW returns home this weekend for a Peach Belt Conference series with Augusta State.

Saturday the Americus-Sumter County Chamber of Commerce is holding a tailgate party at Hurricane Field. Students, staff and faculty are welcome to attend and enjoy the free food provided by the chamber.  Food will be served from 5-7 p.m. with first pitch of the baseball game set for 6 p.m.
