GSW Baseball's Fall Classic Blue-White Series This Weekend

AMERICUS – The Georgia Southwestern baseball program's 9th Annual Fall Classic Blue-White Series will be played Nov. 2-4 at Hurricane Stadium. This intrasquad series will be played in a best-of-three games format.

The weekend schedule is set with Game 1 kicking things off on Friday at 6 p.m. Game 2 will be played Saturday at 2 p.m. and Game 3 (if necessary) will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Blue and White teams recently held a player draft to finalize their rosters. Players are drafted to a side prior to their first season with the program and remain on that team throughout their GSW career.

The Blue team holds an all-time lead in the series, 5-3. After losing the first two years, the Blue team won five-consecutive seasons before being swept last fall.

Corey Benson was the series MVP in 2011 after batting 3-for-6 with two RBIs and a pair of stolen bases.

The rosters for the 2012 Fall Classic will be:

Blue Team Roster     White Team Roster
Justin Lott Frank Ambrosino
Kyle Nobles Ryan Mosley
Jarrod Taylor Corey Benson
Daniel Lackey Dylan Folds
Chase Burnfin Devyn Newberry
Chase Young Bray Bishop
Lane Dixon Michel Coffey
John Duran Blane Parker
Zach Moss Michael Sneed
Logan Holland Matthew Suggs
Drew Cataldo Les Cromer
Earl Dupree Neal Chambless
Josh Sanders Randall Sheffield
Stephen Eldridge Kevin Manos
Jordan Martin Davey King

For the fourth-consecutive year, the losing side will have to operate a charity car wash. The car wash raises money for the Sumter County Parks and Recreation Little League Baseball Scholarship Program, which assists children financially, whose families can't afford little league registration fees.

This year's car wash will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot separating the GSW baseball and softball fields. The program is asking for $3 per car, and they will also be taking donations. All proceeds will go straight to the aforementioned scholarship program.
