GSW signs 6-foot-3 guard from Camden, NJ
Sedale McGee-Jones, a transfer from Alabama Southern Community College in Monroeville, Ala., has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Georgia Southwestern State University, head coach Mike Leeder announced today.
"Sedale is a versatile wing player who can affect the game both on offense and defense," said Leeder. "He is a good athlete and should be able to defend multiple positions for us next year. Offensively, Sedale can really score off the dribble and uses his athleticism around the rim. He is a great foul shooter and has a solid mid-range game."
McGee-Jones averaged 11.4 points per game last season for the Eagles. He shot 50% from the field (121-for-242) and 78.5% from the foul line (76-for-97), while averaging 5.4 rebounds. McGee-Jones posted three double-doubles as a sophomore at ASCC.
"Sedale played for an outstanding junior college under coach Ben Hicks and that experience should allow him to come in and have an impact here at GSW," said Leeder.
McGee-Jones becomes the fourth player signed by the Hurricanes for the 2008-09 season, following Matt Mendell, Brandon Sims and Damayrius Adside.
The 2008-09 season kicks off Saturday, November 15 against Puerto Rico-Cayey. The game will be played at Valdosta State and tip-off time is 4 p.m.
Personal Note: Sedale graduated from Alabama Southern CC with a 3.0 GPA.
