Hurricanes Ranked 19th in NABC Coaches Poll

AMERICUS, Ga. – Tuesday's release of the weekly NABC Coaches Top 25 Poll featured the Georgia Southwestern Hurricanes for the second consecutive poll. The Hurricanes slid back to 19th from twelfth after dropping their PBC opener at Montevallo 66-60 on Saturday. Last week's twelfth ranking was the program's highest ever finish in a Division II Coaches Poll. Coach Leeder and company are still the only Peach Belt Conference team to ranked in the Top 25 (Montevallo received votes and finished in 27th).

During the 2010-11 season, the Georgia Southwestern Hurricanes saw their first ever showing in the Top 25 poll. They spent five weeks ranked throughout the season. Today's 19th ranking ensures the Hurricanes will be ranked for the second week in the young 2011-12 season.

Their 6-1 start to the season is the team's best in the NCAA Division II era over a season's first seven games.  The Canes will play their eighth game on Wednesday, December 14th at Clayton State University at 7:30 pm.
