Batton Joins Golf Program

Troy Batton, a graduate of Pacelli High School in Columbus, has signed a scholarship to play golf for Georgia Southwestern this fall.

GSW coach Stan Shurling said Batton would have a chance to play in 2008-09 despite the Hurricanes returning three seniors.

"He could earn one of the five spots - his game is that good," Shurling said.

Shurling said Batton and the other freshmen coming in "certainly helps gives us a good nucleus for the future."
