PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Georgia Southwestern golf team moved up one spot on Tuesday from its Day 1 position to finish eighth at the 14-team Argonaut Invitational played at Pensacola Country Club.
Nate Gahman shot a final-round 1-over 73 for the Hurricanes to finish 1-over for the 54-hole tournament and remain tied for sixth out of 74 participants.
Host West Florida, with a score of 874, won the team title by three strokes, ahead of No. 9 Georgia College and six strokes ahead of No. 25 USC Aiken.
Of the seven schools finishing ahead of GSW, six are nationally-ranked with four coming in the Top 15.
Jake Windom of fourth-ranked North Alabama shot a 3-under 213 (75-70-68) to lead all individuals.
John Wilson Gordon finished with a 13-over 229 to hold second for GSW. J.P. Griffin was a stroke behind Gordon and tied for 45th place. Rounding out the scoring for the 'Canes was Craig Gibson and Reese Moseley with scores of 238 and 249, respectively.
The Hurricanes return to the links on Monday, Mar. 14, at the Don Benbow Invitational in Jacksonville Beach, Fla.
