KILLEN, Ala. - The Georgia Southwestern men's golf team posted a 309 score on Tuesday morning at the TVA Credit Union Classic to finish the two-day, three-round event in 12th place out of 14 teams. Freshman Fraser Johnston led the Hurricanes in the final round with a 3-over par 75. Freshman Nicholas Ward carded GSW's low tally for the tournament with an 8-over 224 and tied for 14th place in the 75-player field.
Freshman Jordan Baker tied for 49th overall with a 236. Sophomore Anders Olsson carded the Hurricanes' second-lowest score on Tuesday with a 5-over 77 at the 7,133-yard, par 72 Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club and finished tied for 65th with a total score of 241. Sophomore Chris Campus tallied a 261.
Southwestern finished 59 strokes behind the team champion, No. 13 North Alabama. No. 7 Columbus State was five strokes back in second place with a 15-over 879 total. Robert Mize from Columbus State finished four strokes ahead of teammate Yannick Gumowski to claim the individual title at 3-under.
GSW ranked fourth amongst the teams on par 3 scoring for the tournament, but finished last on the par 4 holes. On the individual side, Ward ranked seventh with nine birdies over the three rounds and Olsson tied for sixth on par 5 scoring, playing the holes at a combined 2-under par.
The Hurricanes resume their 2013-14 schedule in February with the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate.
