Hurricanes defeat Young Harris, 7-2
The Georgia Southwestern men's tennis team rallied for three-set wins in a trio of singles matches to earn a 7-2 victory over Young Harris on Thursday afternoon at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex.
Southwestern led the match by a 2-1 count after doubles action and went on to win five of six singles matches.
Ignacio Donnett, Sebastian Munoz and Rashad Carson were perfect on the afternoon, winning both their doubles and singles contests.
Donnett and Munoz defeated Will Dixon and Mitchell Midkiff at No. 2 doubles, 8-5. Carson and Adrian Knight teamed to beat Koen Gottenbos and Felix Reichl, 8-4.
In singles, GSW won at positions 1-5.
Victor Pinones-Haltenhoff topped Laurenz Schraepen 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1, while Ryan Bartz bested Dixon in another three-setter, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2. Donnett won at No. 3 against Jamie Childree 6-4, 7-5. Another three-set match came at No. 4, where Munoz topped Midkiff 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 6-2. Carson won at No. 5 against Gottenbos 6-1, 7-6 (12-10).
Southwestern is back in action tomorrow (3/19) hosting West Alabama at 2 p.m.
