Softball Releases 2015 Schedule

AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern State University head softball coach Eddie Ward has released the program's 2015 schedule.

The Lady Hurricanes are coming off a 26-win season, the second-most victories posted during the program's NCAA era (since 2007).

The 2015 campaign opens Feb. 7 in Thomasville as GSW resumes its annual meeting with Thomas University after a year hiatus. The Lady Hurricanes return to Americus for their home opener on Feb. 12 against Fort Valley State.

Following a trip to St. Augustine, Fla. for neutral-site doubleheaders against Florida Southern and Barry, the Lady 'Canes visit Albany State on Feb. 17.

Then it's a little home cooking for GSW as the Lady 'Canes entertain West Georgia, Emmanuel College and Thomas before closing out February with a trip to Fort Valley State on the 24th.

The Blue & Gold kick off March with the start of Peach Belt Conference play and a visit from Georgia College on the 5th. Then the Lady Hurricanes hit the road for doubleheaders at Francis Marion and UNC Pembroke on the weekend of the 17th.

After a visit from Palm Beach Atlantic on the 10th, GSW hosts first-year program and PBC foe Montevallo on Mar. 13.

The ladies will see some quality bus time after the Montevallo doubleheader, playing 16 of their next 18 games away from the friendly confines of Lady 'Canes Field.

A South Carolina swing takes GSW to Anderson and Southern Wesleyan with a jump back across the border to face Emmanuel before heading back to the Palmetto State for PBC games with Lander and USC Aiken.

After a quick stop at home on Apr. 4 to host NCAA Tournament participant Armstrong, GSW is back on the bus for a trip to defending NCAA Division II national runner-up Valdosta State followed by stops at Young Harris College and 2014 PBC champions North Georgia.

The regular season concludes with four straight dates at home. The Lady Hurricanes host Columbus State on Apr. 15. Senior Day will take place on the 18th against Georgia Regents. Visits from Flagler (Apr. 19) and Albany State (Apr. 20) round out the schedule.
