Turman joins Britsky's staff
GSW head women's basketball coach Kelly Britsky has announced the addition of Kelly Turman as the new assistant coach of the Lady Hurricanes.
"We are very fortunate to have Coach Turman on staff," Britsky said. "She brings a tremendous amount of experience as a Division I player and a junior college coach. She can relate to the student-athletes and challenge them to reach their potential."
Turman played for four seasons (2004-2008) at East Tennessee State University where the Lady Buccaneers made two post tournament appearances. Her junior year, ETSU went to the Women's NIT; and her senior year, the Lady Bucs' made it to the NCAA tournament. Both years were twenty-win campaigns. Turman played in 33 games her senior year and averaged 6.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in 14.6 minutes per contest while shooting 42.3 percent from the floor. She finished her career at ETSU with 659 points.
Turman graduated in May 2008 with a degree in business finance. She was an assistant basketball coach at Neosho Community College (KS) last season where the Lady Panthers tripled their win total from 2007-08. All of the 2008-09 NCC sophomores are now on either NCAA Division I or II rosters.
"I'm extremely excited to be here and further my experience under Coach Britsky," Turman said. "I expect us to be very competitive and get in the heat of things with the girls we have."
Turman is originally from Atlanta and attended George Washington High School.
