Argo-NOTs

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Coming off their 70-66 victory over the West Alabama Lady Tigers, the Georgia Southwestern Lady 'Canes were looking to begin their 2011-12 campaign with a 4-0 start. Their second game in as many days would give the Blue & Gold that fourth win by a score of 75-65 over the Lady Argonauts of West Florida.

The Lady 'Canes came out strong in the first half and led a vast majority of the game's initial 20 minutes. That lead included a ten point, 18-8 lead, at the 11:00 minute mark. That run was fueled by six early points from junior Adrian Randall.

By half's end the Blue & Gold would lead 32-24, which was due in part to Adrian Randall's first half double-double of ten points and ten rebounds. Randall's ten points and fellow junior Briana Walker's nine points led the GSW offense that scored its 32 points on 11-46 (23.9%) shooting. The Hurricanes were able to out-rebound the Lady Argonauts by eleven, force a dozen turnovers and held UWF to 29% from the field.

The Blue & Gold would coast comfortably though the second half leading by as much as 14 points. The GSW lead would hover around ten and twelve points throughout the game's final 20 minutes.

Despite a sub 30% shooting night, the Lady 'Canes were able to win thanks to a 21-2 advantage in 2nd chance points. Adrian Randall's 19 points and 17 rebounds led GSW attack. Her 17 rebounds were the most in a game since Cierra Duhart did it twice last season. She was supported by Tania Walters (17 points) and Jessica Bivins (13 points and ten rebounds). Her ten rebounds was a new career high for the senior guard from Orlando.
