AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern State University head women's basketball coach Kelly Britsky announced the signing of Kayla Ritchie, Keishundra Jackson and Yvonna Dunkley for the upcoming season. The veteran trio from the JUCO ranks rounds out the Lady Hurricanes roster for 2014-15.
Ritchie, a 5-foot-3 junior point guard from El Paso, Texas, played at South Georgia Tech two years ago and averaged 5.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game for the Lady Jets.
Jackson comes to Americus after spending the last two seasons at Atlanta Metropolitan State College. The Taylor County High School grad played in 25 games in 2013-14 and averaged 6.8 points 3.2 rebounds. She poured in a season-high 25 points at South Georgia Tech on Nov. 12 and grabbed a season-best nine rebounds on Feb. 19 against Andrew College. A major distributor for Atlanta Metro, Jackson tallied 11 assists against Albany Tech on Feb. 7.
Dunkley, a 5-foot-9 guard from Snellville, Ga., played last season at Georgia Perimeter College. In her sophomore campaign Dunkley averaged 15.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while picking a team-leading 57 steals. She scored in double figures 25 times, with seven games over 20 points, including 30 points at Darton State College on Feb. 25, 29 points against Northwest Florida State College on Nov. 9 and 25 points at Albany Tech on Jan. 25.
The Lady Hurricanes open their 2014-15 season at home on Nov. 15 against Selma University.
