GSW Tennis Teams Lose 7-2 Against North Georgia

AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern tennis teams both lost Peach Belt Conference matches against North Georgia by a score of 7-2 at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

#30 NORTH GEORGIA 7, GSW MEN 2

The Hurricanes won two singles matches against the 30th-ranked Saints after falling behind 3-0 after doubles play.

Stephen Moore won at No. 5 singles for GSW 6-1, 6-1 over Sam Gantt. Valentin Demande evened his season record at 5-5 for the 'Canes with a victory at No. 6 over Mario Mesquita.

GSW has lost six of its last seven contests and looks to rebound on Friday at Fort Valley State.

NORTH GEORGIA 7, GSW WOMEN 2

As was the case in the men's match on Wednesday, the Lady 'Canes picked up wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles against the Saints.

Taylor Jones improved her singles record to a team-best 9-6 this spring with 6-1, 6-1 win over Mallory Kolts at No. 5. Jones has won two in a row and five of her last eight matches on the singles side.

Mollie McGowan is nipping at Jones' heels for the GSW team lead as she improved to 8-6 overall after her victory in a third-set tiebreaker over Jordan Poole at No. 6.

Jones and partner Kalie Douberly came up just short in their bid to earn a win at No. 2 doubles, falling 9-8 to Cameron Williams and Adalyn Hazelman.

The Lady 'Canes return to the courts on Thursday with 1 p.m. match against Albany State.
