The Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team dropped a 4-0
decision to the defending PBC champions, fifth-ranked Columbus
State University on Wednesday afternoon at Hurricane
Field.
Stephanie Parrish scored the first goal of the
match in the 14th minute off an assist from Kayla
Brown. Parrish played a role in the second CSU goal as she
setup Gina Goforth with a pass through the GSW defense at the 18:11
mark. Jill Walthall completed the first half scoring in
the 33rd minute when she found an opening in the top right corner
of the goal from 17 yards out.
Melinda Bush tacked on the final goal for CSU in the 61st
minute.
Elizabeth Keller led the Lady 'Canes offense with two shots in
the match, including a bullet midway through the second half that
struck the right post.
Southwestern goalkeeper Amber Bahri stayed busy and recorded
nine saves for the third consecutive contest. Mary
Mancin made the lone stop for CSU.
Columbus State (8-0-1, 3-0 PBC) had a dozen
more shots on goal (13-1) and held a 16-1 advantage in
corner kicks.
GSW (3-6-0, 0-3) hosts Lander on Saturday at 1 p.m.
