Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Hurricanes strike early and often in 3-0 win

The Georgia Southwestern men's soccer team scored three goals in a 12-minute span early in the first half at Hurricane Field on Tuesday afternoon to earn its first conference win of the season, a 3-0 victory over North Georgia.

GSW dominated early, scoring all three goals in the first 25 minutes as Yimi Reyes started the offense in the 12th minute, taking a rebound off Shane McKay's shot that hit the post from eight yards out for his first goal of the year.

Ross Sellers followed just five minutes later at the 16:11 mark, finding his second score of the year of yet another rebound, this one coming from three yards out as the sophomore tapped  home Kacey Barnard's saved shot for a 2-0 Hurricane advantage.

The barrage continued in the 24th minute when Barnard took a pass from Sellers and drove home the final goal of the match from 20 yards out, scoring inside the right post to give GSW the commanding 3-0 lead.

The Saints (5-3-2, 1-3-1 PBC) held a slim 5-4 edge in shots on goal, and took 13 corners to zero for the Hurricanes, but where it counted, on the scoreboard, Georgia Southwestern went home with a 3-0 shutout.

Southwestern (2-8, 1-3) looks to make it two straight wins on Saturday, hosting Montevallo at 3:30 p.m.
