The Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team rallied from a goal
down to win 2-1 over LaGrange College in double overtime on Sunday
afternoon at Hurricane Field in the final match of the third annual
Quality Inn/Hurricane Invitational. The Lady Hurricanes won the
invite championship by finishing 2-0 over the weekend.
LaGrange jumped to an early 1-0 lead on Sunday when Mary
Robinson scored from 12 yards out off a lead pass down the right
side from Brittany Gray in the 11th minute.
The score remained 1-0 until early in the second half when
Southwestern's Meghan
Ward, charging towards the goal, headed in a long pass from Stephanie Patrylo.
The two sides ended regulation tied at 1-1.
GSW held a 5-0 shot advantage in the first overtime, but was
unable to score.
With 2:18 remaining in the match, Brittney Hill drilled a shot
from near the left corner of the box and sent it past a diving
goalkeeper, into the top right corner of the goal, for the win. Hayley Knight picked up
the assist, her fourth of the invitational.
Courtney Allison
made one save in goal for Southwestern to pick up the win. On the
other side, Chelsea Totaro stopped eight for LaGrange.
GSW finished with a 10-2 shots on goal advantage and set a
