AMERICUS, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern State University freshman Kynu Samuels delivered the equalizer in the 26th minute Wednesday evening as GSW and Flagler College went on to a 1-1 draw in their Peach Belt Conference matchup at Hurricane Field. It was the first tie in league play for both schools this season.
Flagler (8-4-2, 5-3-1 PBC) opened the scoring in the minute prior to Samuels goal, which was his third of the fall. Both sides had multiple scoring opportunities over the remaining time, but neither side could convert. The Hurricanes had perhaps the best chance to break the deadlock in the 47th minute when a shot by Arly Medina-Ramirez had to be saved by a Flagler defender.
Noah Kasin made three saves, two of which were extraordinary stops, to preserve the point in the PBC standings for GSW (4-5-3, 2-5-1 PBC).
GSW is winless in the all-time series against Flagler, 0-20-2, however the two draws have come in the last four matches.
The Hurricanes travel to the University of South Carolina Aiken (3-5-4, 0-5-2 PBC) for their final road match of the regular season on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
