AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University men's soccer team remained perfect at home this season (4-0) and improved its record to 4-2-2 overall with a 1-0 Peach Belt Conference victory over the University of South Carolina Aiken on Saturday evening at Hurricane Field. The win snapped a two-match losing streak against the Pacers and gave the Hurricanes a slight edge in the series over the the last seven meetings with four victories.
In a scrappy match that saw 12 cards issued, including a red to both sides, offense was limited. The teams combined for 13 shots, with five being on goal.
The Hurricanes took the lead in the 24th minute when Alexander Lozano drilled his third goal of the season after finding an opening outside the top of the 18-yard box to knock in a pass from Brayden Wood.
Noah Kasin made two saves to preserve the lead for GSW and earn his third clean sheet of the season.
The Hurricanes travel to preseason PBC favorite Clayton State University (4-2-2, 2-1 PBC) on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. match.
