Got a Sec? Canes Win on Last-Second Goal

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. -- 0:01. That's what was showing on the scoreboard clock when Ella Moody found the back of the net with her shot to give the Georgia Southwestern State University women's soccer team a 1-0 victory at Brewton-Parker College on Saturday evening. Even the camera operator on the Brewton-Parker live stream had stopped following the action because they thought the match was ending in draw after the ball got loose in font of the 18-yard box. It turned out to be a thrilling way to get first-year head coach Jacob Crawford his first win at GSW.

The Lady Hurricanes dominated possession throughout the contest, but were unable put a shot past Brewton-Parker goalkeeper Angel Camacho, who finished with 19 saves. GSW held a 29-4 shots advantage and the 20 shots on goal is the third-most in a match for GSW in program history. Moody led the way with five shots on goal. Rheagan Savage added three.

GSW goalkeeper Alana Beddow turned away two shots to record her first clean sheet of the season.

The Lady Hurricanes travel to Valdosta State University on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. non-conference match against the Blazers (2-2).
