AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University women's soccer team made program history Tuesday night in a 10-0 victory over Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College at Hurricane Field. The Lady Hurricanes set new single-match program records for total goals (10), goals in a half (seven), assists (eight) and points (28).
Lucia Bustamante opened the scoring in the 16th minute and Ellie Carrington followed less than three minutes later. GSW added scores in the 27th and 30th minutes from Cassidy Brunner and Rheagan Savage, respectively. Sydney Weslowski (42'), Chloe Iuliano (44') and Jocelyn Ramos (44') finished the half strong to give the Lady Hurricanes a 7-0 lead at the break and help deliver the program's most ever goals in a half.
Ella Moody (84'), Brunner (89') and Savage (90') provided the second-half scores for GSW. The Lady Hurricanes were able to press and save their best for last at the end of each half with five of their goals coming inside the final five minutes combined of each period.
Brunner and Savage finished with a pair of goals and an assist each, while Carrington had a goal and two assists. Toni Clark provided a pair of assists and Bustamante dished out an assist to go with her goal.
GSW goalkeepers Alana Beddow and Bella Morey each took a half between the pipes to combine for the second shutout of the season.
The Lady Hurricanes resume Peach Belt Conference play on Saturday when they travel to Clayton State University (5-0-1, 1-0 PBC) for a 3:30 p.m. match.
