ALBANY, Ga. – The Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team secured a 2-0 road win over Albany State on Wednesday night at the Albany State Soccer Complex, improving to 4-4-1 on the season and 1-2-1 in Peach Belt Conference play. With the victory, GSW is now 9-1 all-time against the Golden Rams and has not surrendered a goal in five consecutive meetings.
The Lady Canes wasted little time jumping ahead. In the 8th minute, Sydney Weslowski tallied her first goal of the season, finishing off an assist from Toni Clark to give GSW a 1-0 lead.
After halftime, GSW continued to apply heavy pressure, outshooting Albany State 27-3 in the second half. The persistence paid off in the 65th minute when Ella Moody netted her fourth goal of the year, assisted by Weslowski, to double the Lady Canes' advantage.
Defensively, Bella Morey earned the win in goal without facing a shot on target, recording the clean sheet as GSW's back line stifled Albany State's attack. The Golden Rams managed just five total shots in the match.
