Hurricanes on the Summer Baseball Circuit

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University baseball team has four players in action this summer in collegiate leagues across the eastern United States. Rising senior Jonathan Martin is playing for the Asheboro (N.C.) Copperheads of the Coastal Plain League. Junior Tyler Skelton is playing for the Gwinnett (Ga.) Tides of the Sunbelt Baseball League. Joining Skelton in the SBL is newcomer Dalton Cameron. Cameron, a transfer from Southern Union State Community College in Opelika, Ala., is playing for the Atlanta Crackers this summer. Another GSW newcomer, Anthony Capasso, is playing for the Northfield (N.J.) Cardinals of the Atlantic County Baseball League. Capasso is transferring to GSW from Rowan College in Sewell, N.J.

The regular season for the CPL runs from May 30 through August 3. The SBL plays from June 6 through July 25 and the ACBL started May 20 and ends July 17.

Players from the junior college ranks up through the NCAA Division I level, with eligibility remaining, comprise the rosters of teams throughout these leagues. The Hurricanes have teammates from the following NCAA Division I programs: the University of Georgia, Mercer University, Kennesaw State University, Bowling Green State University, Davidson College, Youngstown State University, Western Carolina University, Alabama State University, Eastern Michigan University, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Elon University and the University of Pennsylvania.
