YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.- The Georgia Southwestern women's softball team (15-27, 2-14) were swept by Young Harris College (28-12, 13-5) at E.D. Rivers Field on Saturday.
GAME 1: GSW 0, YHC 6
Young Harris started the game with a two run home run in the first and another 2 run homer in the second. The Lady 'Canes just couldn't seem to find a groove and kept their side scoreless.
GSW played some good defense in the third, fourth and fifth, not allowing any runs, but were unable to score themselves either.
In the sixth inning Young Harris scored two more runs and held off GSW to win the game 6-0.
GSW finished the game with seven hits, no runs, no RBI's and one error.
Haley Goodson (4-13) took the loss for the Lady 'Canes after pitching six innings. She gave up 13 hits, six runs, walked two and struck out two.
GAME 2: GSW 4, YHC 13
GSW didn't keep the lead for long. Young Harris answered back and scored five in the first; one off an error, two off singles and one off a double and scored three more runs in the second; one off a single, one off a wild pitch and one off a passed ball.
GSW scored one run in the fourth when Littlejohn advanced home on a single from McElroy. Young Harris was able to score five more runs in the fourth to take a ten run lead.
Lauren Thrasher tried to start a rally in the fifth with a home run, her ninth of the season, but no one else had a hit and GSW lost by nine points.
GSW finished the game with nine hits, one run, one RBI and four errors.
Brittany Childs (5-4) took the loss for GSW after pitching 2.1 innings. She gave up six hits, eight runs, walked four and stuck out none.
Savannah Carlisle pitched 1.2 innings, gave up five hits, five runs, walked two and struck out zero.
The Lady 'Canes face off against North Georgia tomorrow in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
