Georgia Southwestern senior forward Phillip Brown has been named to the 2011-12 Division II Bulletin Super 16 All-American Preseason Team. The Super 16 divides the country into eight regions with two players named award winners in each region. Brown joins Desmond Mason from Lincoln Memorial University as a Southeast Region selection.

Georgia Southwestern forward Phillip Brown was named the Peach Belt Conference men's basketball Player of the Week on Monday. It's the third time Brown has received the honor this sesason. He was exceptional in back-to-back triple-overtime games, averging 19.5 points and 19 rebounds per game. At North Georgia, he grabbed 22 rebounds, the most in a single game in the PBC this season and tied for fifth-most all-time.

Win at GCSU completes perfect three-game stretch
Behind a game-high 23 points from Evan Mobley, the Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team won their third-consecutive road game, an 80-65 victory at Georgia College on Wednesday evening. GCSU entered the game as the only Peach Belt Conference school the Hurricanes had yet to defeat since becoming Division II members of the NCAA in 2006.

There's a newcomer in the National Association of Basketball Coaches' NCAA Division II men's basketball poll. For the first time in school history, Georgia Southwestern has been listed amongst the nation's best. The Hurricanes received a pair of votes in the poll, released on Tuesday afternoon, only eight votes behind No. 25 Alaska-Anchorage.

Phillip Brown posted a double-double and Matt Mendell hit six 3-pointers, leading Georgia Southwestern to an easy 93-45 victory over Hiwassee College Thursday afternoon in the final round of the Bearcat Holiday Classic. Macon County Elementary student wins coloring contest award
Hunter Chase Curtis, a first grader from Macon County Elementary School was the boy selected as winner of the inaugural Hurricane Reading Club coloring contest. Augusta State won a pair of games against GSW on Saturday afternoon at Christenberry Fieldhouse. The Lady Hurricanes fell 82-55 and the men were defeated by the No. 4-ranked team in Division 2, 84-66 in the late game.

Sedale McGee-Jones sank the game-winning 3-pointer with 5.3 seconds left as GSW upset Clayton State, 85-83 Wednesday night in Morrow, Ga. The Lakers were ranked in the top 20 last week, and its the Hurricanes second win in three years at CSU.

Anthony Sargent, a junior guard from Indianapolis, was selected as the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week in Mens Basketball. Sargent lit up the scoreboards in three games last week, averaging 22.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as the Hurricanes went 1-2.
