Individually, junior J.P. GSW golfers fare well in summer qualifiers
Georgia Southwestern golfers Nate Gahman and J.P. Griffin qualified for the 2011 Georgia Amateur Championship on Friday morning with scores of 69 and 72, respectively, at Doublegate Country Club in Albany. Gahman's 3-under par round earned medalist honors at the 44-player event. Senior Chris Hall and Hurricane head coach Andrew Danna both qualified for the YAMAHA Atlanta Open Georgia PGA tournament earlier this week.

Griffin fired a tournament-low 66 in the second round of the Aflac/Cougar Invitational at the Country Club of Columbus on Monday afternoon to finish the day in second place out of 75 golfers with a 2-under 140. The GSW team shot a two-round 605, finishing 12th out of 14 teams in its final match of the fall.

Top-10 finish for GSW in St. Augustine
The Georgia Southwestern golf team finished tied for 10th out of 15 teams at the rain-shortened Jay Jennison Memorial tournament in St. Augustine, Fla. on Tuesday. Play was suspended Monday at the Palencia Club due to inclement weather and GSW finished Round 1 on Tuesday morning, along with the final round. Nate Gahman posted a team-best 149 (77-72), good enough for a 13th-place finish in the 79-player field.

The Peach Belt Conference has announced that 1,079 student-athletes have been named to the Presidential Honor Roll from the league office in Augusta. A total of 62 GSW student-athletes earned the honor in 2009-10, a nine percent increase from last year's total.

Golf adds Division I tourney to spring schedule
The GSW golf team, currently ranked No. 39 in D2 by Golfstat, will be participating in the North South Intercollegiate hosted by Butler University at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club in Jacksonville, Fla. on March 9 & 10.

‘Canes finish tied for 11th at Outback Steakhouse Intercollegiate
The Georgia Southwestern men's golf team shot a final-round 324 to finish tied for 11th place at the Outback Steakhouse Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon at the Hombre Golf Club in Panama City Beach, Fla. The Hurricanes finished the two-day tournament with a 625 total, 40 strokes behind team champion Columbus State. GSW was only nine strokes out of the lead after day one, but struggled on the tournament’s final day in the 16-team field.

McKenney one stroke back at AFLAC/Columbus Invite
Senior Adam McKenney's 2-under-par 69 led the GSW golf team to a 10-over-par 294 on Monday afternoon in the first round of the AFLAC/Cougar Invitational at the Country Club of Columbus. McKenney heads into Tuesday's final round trailing the leader Jude Eustaquio of Florida Southern by one stroke. Host Columbus State leads the 17-team field at even par (284).

McKenney Finishes Tied for 6th; Canes 9th at AFLAC/Columbus Invite
Senior Adam McKenney's 2-over-par 73 led the GSW golf team to a 14-over-par 298 on Tuesday afternoon in the second round of the AFLAC/Cougar Invitational at the Country Club of Columbus. The Hurricanes finished the two-day tournament with a 592 (+24). No. 2 USC Aiken won the 17-team field at one-over-par (569).

Canes Move Up Two Slots to Finish Seventh
The GSW golf team matched the top-ranked team in NCAA Division-II, the University of West Florida, on Tuesday with a 5-over 293 in the final round at the State Farm-Laker Collegiate Classic in McDonough. The 293 tied for third-lowest final round in the 14-team tournament. Overall, the Hurricanes finished in seventh place with a two-day total of 881.

Canes Drop From Second to Ninth After Two Rounds in McDonough
The GSW golf team shot a collective 1-under in the morning round at the State Farm-Laker Collegiate Classic in McDonough on Monday. The 287 score was good for the second lowest opening round in the 14-team tournament. The afternoon round, however, did not bode as well for the 'Canes as GSW struggled to shoot a plus-13 301.

McKenney Receives PBC Honors
After posting rounds of 67 and 69 to win the individual title at the Coker College Invitational on Tuesday, senior Adam McKenney has been named the Peach Belt Conference Golfer of the Week.

McKenney Wins Coker Invite Individual Title
Senior Adam McKenney shot a second round 3-under-par 69 Tuesday afternoon at the Orlando County National Golf Center to win individual medalist honors at the Coker College Invitational. McKenney finished the 36-hole tournament with an 8-under 136, two strokes ahead of Judson Eustaquio from Florida Southern.

Senior Adam McKenney's five-under-par 67 led the GSW golf team to an even par 288 on Monday afternoon in the first round of the Coker College Invitational at the Orlando County National Golf Center in Orlando, Fla. McKenney heads into Tuesday's final round as the tournament's individual leader. Lander leads the twelve-team field at eight under (280).

Canes Move Up to Finish 2nd
The GSW blue team shaved 17 shots off their day one score to finish runner-up at the Hurricane Classic at Griffin Bell Golf Links in Americus on Monday afternoon. Michael Harris shot the low round of the entire tournament with a 6-under-par (65) and Adam McKenney posted a 1-under (70) to lead the Hurricanes.

The Hurricanes' Blue team shot a 299 and the Gold team shot a 305 on the first day of the Hurricane Classic at Griffin Bell Golf Links in Americus. Senior Adam McKenney led GSW with a 71.

Fall Golf Season Tees Off on Sunday
The 2008-09 men’s golf season will begin this Sunday, September 14 with the Hurricane Classic at Griffin Bell Golf Links. This year the ‘Canes are lead by three returning seniors, Jordan Britt, Michael Harris, and Adam McKinney. They have the entire squad coming back from last year plus two new freshmen, Troy Batten and Robbie Brinson.

Adam McKenney joined the amateur circuit's winners' club by taking the second annual Regions Cup Invitational at Gordon Lakes Golf Course in Augusta on Sunday.

GSW shot rounds of 307, 313 & 331 to finish at +87 (951), good for 15th of 17 teams at the Emerald Coast Collegiate in Gulf Breeze, Fla. Christopher Hall led the 'Canes at +18.

ROCKVILLE, Md. - Georgia Southwestern University, a member of the Peach Belt Conference, has chosen PrestoSports for its new athletics web site solution. Members of the Hurricanes athletics team have worked closely with PrestoSports to begin the process for a new web site which is expected to launch later this year.
