Hurricanes finish 10th at PBC Championships
Members of the Georgia Southwestern women's cross country team were running in packs at the Peach Belt Conference Championships on Saturday morning at Pacer Path on the campus of USC Aiken. GSW saw its top two runners finish back-to-back and its next three finish in sequential order as the Lady 'Canes finished 10th at the year-end event.

Improvements aplenty at Foothills Invite
The Georgia Southwestern cross country team saw four of its top five runners post their best times of 2011 at Saturday's Sixth Annual Foothills Invitational in Oxford, Ala. Freshman Micah Bucher led the Lady Hurricanes on the 5K course for the first time in her collegiate career.

GSW finishes 7th at Remembrance Run
The Georgia Southwestern cross country team finished in seventh place out of nine teams at the Second Annual GSW Remembrance Run held in Americus on Saturday. Lisa Espino led the Lady Hurricanes for the second-consecutive meet, finishing the 5K course in 22:11 for 25th place out of 70 competitors.

Espino leads GSW at Bobcat Invitational
The Georgia Southwestern cross country team opened the 2011 season on Friday evening with a fourth-place finish at the Third Annual Bobcat Invitational hosted by Georgia College. Newcomer Lisa Espino led the Lady Hurricanes on the 5K course with a time of 24:26.

Women's cross country season preview

Lady 'Canes receive 1st place vote in PBC preseason poll
The Georgia Southwestern women's cross country team will enter the 2011 season with its highest ranking in the Peach Belt Conference Coaches' Preseason Poll in school history. The PBC poll, released today, has the Lady Hurricanes in eighth place out of 10 teams.

Lady Hurricanes move up at conference meet
The Georgia Southwestern cross country team finished ninth out of 10 teams on Saturday at the Peach Belt Conference championship meet in Evans, Ga. Kelsey Baker led the way for GSW, finishing the 6k race 48th with a time of 28:30. It was the first time in three years of NCAA competition that GSW finished ahead of another school at the conference championships.

The Georgia Southwestern Athletics Department has launched an online retail store through a partnership with SKOR Sports. A wide range of apparel and merchandise options are available. Categories range from pet supplies and auto accessories to polos and jackets. On most items, customers have the option of sport-specific imprints or embroidery (when applicable).

GSW earns top-10 finish at JSU Foothills Invite
The Lady Hurricanes cross country team finished in ninth place on Saturday at the 12-team Foothills Invitational, hosted by Jacksonville State University, in Oxford, Ala. GSW finished with 215 points, four points away from jumping two slots to seventh. Every Southwestern runner posted a season-best 5K time.

62 Hurricane student-athletes named to PBC Presidential Honor Roll
The Peach Belt Conference has announced that 1,079 student-athletes have been named to the Presidential Honor Roll from the league office in Augusta. A total of 62 GSW student-athletes earned the honor in 2009-10, a nine percent increase from last year's total.

Cox joins GSW coaching staff
Georgia Southwestern State University head men's basketball coach Mike Leeder has announced that Stephen Cox will serve as his assistant coach for the 2009-10 season. Cox has also been selected as the Lady Hurricanes new head women's cross country coach.

Columbus State Tabbed as Women’s Cross Country Favorite
The CSU women’s cross country team has been selected as the preseason team to beat in a preseason poll of the league’s head coaches released by the Peach Belt Conference today. The Lady Cougars took seven of nine first-place votes to finish ahead of Augusta State with GCSU in third. Lander, Clayton State, USC Aiken, North Georgia, UNC Pembroke, Francis Marion and GSW were next.

ROCKVILLE, Md. - Georgia Southwestern University, a member of the Peach Belt Conference, has chosen PrestoSports for its new athletics web site solution. Members of the Hurricanes athletics team have worked closely with PrestoSports to begin the process for a new web site which is expected to launch later this year.
