MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Freshman Graham Harrod made program history Saturday morning at the Peach Belt Conference Cross Country Championships, becoming the first Georgia Southwestern State University men's cross country runner to break the 28-minute mark for an 8K. His record-setting run highlighted the Hurricanes' season finale at the Bobcat Cross Country Course hosted by Georgia College & State University.
Harrod crossed the line in 27:53.6, setting a new GSW school record and finishing 46th overall in a highly competitive conference field. His performance capped a stellar freshman campaign that included multiple top-10 finishes and the best single-race mark in program history.
Junior Trey Reid followed in 32:02.1, with freshman Michael Korfhage close behind at 33:51.5. Sophomore Gerona Williams ran a 39:44.7, and junior Christian Aguilar closed out the scoring lineup with a personal-best 48:19.6.
Georgia Southwestern placed ninth overall as a team, rounding out a breakthrough fall that featured historic progress for the Hurricanes' young roster — including a program-first top-three finish earlier in the season and a new 8K benchmark at the championship meet.
