ALBANY, Ga. – The Georgia Southwestern men's cross country team made a historic mark Friday evening at the Willie Laster Invitational hosted by Albany State University at Sherwood Legacy Park. The Hurricanes placed sixth out of nine teams in the 8K event, highlighted by a new program record and multiple top performances.

Freshman Graham Harrod led the way for GSW, finishing 10th overall with a time of 28:21.7, which set a new all-time 8K record for the program. Harrod's performance continues an impressive debut season and firmly places him atop the GSW record books.

Just behind him, junior Trey Reid crossed the line in 28:59.1, good for 14th overall. His effort now stands as the fourth-fastest 8K time in GSW history, further showcasing the team's upward trajectory.

Joseph Esco clocked in at 31:04.7 to round out the top three for the Hurricanes, while Michael Korfhage (35:28.8) and Gerona Williams (36:54.5) completed the scoring five. Christian Aguilar also competed, finishing in 49:04.4.

As a team, GSW posted a total time of 2:40:48 and an average of 32:09 per runner, finishing with 136 points. The Hurricanes showed competitive strength against a tough field led by meet champion Clayton State, who scored just 24 points behind a dominating pack that placed five runners in the top eight.

The record-breaking performances by Harrod and Reid mark a pivotal moment for the program, signaling both current growth and future potential.
